04/01/2023 - WCFD responds to a transformer fire in West Goshen Township this evening. Station 52 handled 6 calls for service while storm staffing.

04/03/2023 - At 1:45 PM the WCFD and Good Fellowship Ambulance & EMS Training Institute were dispatched to the 100 block of East Gay Street, West Chester Borough for a reported building fire. Crews arrived and located a strong burning odor inside the property. It was determined that a heating unit was causing the issue and the assignment was held to Engine 52-1 and Engine 53.

04/07/2023 - Just after 5:00 PM the West Chester Borough Fire Department along with Good Fellowship Ambulance & EMS Training Institute were dispatched for a burning odor on the fifth floor of the Bicentennial Parking Garage, 50 South High Street, West Chester Borough. Volunteers arrived and investigated the incident although no source was located. All units cleared without incident.Engine 52-1 W/4 arrived as the First Due Engine. Engine 52-2 W/3 also made the response.

04/09/2023 - At approximately 10:05 PM on April 8, 2023, the West Chester Borough Fire Department was alerted for a brush fire in the 600 block of East Street Road, Westtown Township, PA. WCFD volunteers arrived on-scene, advising a pile of tree trunks, six foot high and approximately fifteen feet long burning. All units cleared after approximately two and a half hours.

04/13/2023 - Today at 3:43PM West Whiteland Fire Company was dispatched for a residential fire in the 600 block of Grubbs Mill Road. Chief 6 arrived to find smoke from the rear of the dwelling and the deck on fire spreading into the residence. Crews went in service and had the fire under control in 30 minutes. The company and mutual aid completed overhaul and and assisted the Fire Marshal’s with their investigation. Units cleared the scene just after 7PM. Engine 52-1 W/5 arrived as the Fourth due engine. Engine 52-1’s crew operated on the 2nd floor with a hand line.

04/14/2023 - At approximately 6:00 pm, Goshen and West Chester Fire Companies were dispatched to the 500 block of Fern Hill Lane in West Goshen Twp for a house fire. Arriving crews found heavy fire conditions in the rear of the residence, with two large propane tanks involved in the fire. Crews worked quickly to contain the fire to the rear of the residence and cool the propane tanks until the utility company arrived and secured the equipment. Engine 52-1 W/3 operated as the Second Due Engine. Engine 52-2 W/4 operated as the Fourth Due Engine. Air 52 and Utility 52 also made the response.

04/15/2023 - Nothing we are dispatched to can be viewed as routine. WCFD was called to assist Goshen Fire Company with a house fire in West Goshen Township last evening. Upon arrival, collaborative crews quickly extinguished the fire, which had progressed through the house. Unfortunately, multiple propane tanks were feeding a fire at the rear of the house. Crews deployed multiple hand lines to keep the rapidly escaping propane under control. Coordinated efforts, kept the tanks cool, extinguished the fire extending into the house, and dispersed any vapors escaping the area to ensure the public was not in any danger.

04/18/2023 - At approximately 4:45 PM, the West Chester Borough Fire Department, Good Fellowship Ambulance & EMS Training Institute, West Whiteland Fire Company (RIT) along with West Chester University Police Department were dispatched to Sykes Student Union, 100 block of West Rosedale Ave., West Goshen Township, for a reported building fire. WCFD arrived and investigated an electrical odor with a slight haze inside. The cause of the incident was found to be an issue with a refrigerator inside the kitchen area. The problem was secured and all emergency units cleared by approximately 5:15 PM. Engine 52-1 W/4, Engine 52-2 W/3 and Air 52 made the response.

04/19/2023 - This afternoon at approximately 1:13 PM, the WCFD was dispatched to a reported building fire at the Chester County Hospital, 700 block of East Marshall Street, West Chester Borough. The incident was reported to be a fire in a elevator room and elevator shaft within the hospital. Our volunteers checked all areas of the hospital, including roof tops and found no hazards. Engine 52-1 W/3 arrived as the first due engine. Engine 52-2 arrived as the third due engine. Air 52 also made the response.

04/27/2023 - The WCFD along with Good Fellowship Ambulance & EMS Training Institute, West Whiteland Fire Company and West Chester Borough Police Department were dispatched for a building fire in the 200 block of South Matlack Street, West Chester Borough. The caller reported a smoke condition in the hallway with alarms sounding. WCFD volunteers arrived and confirmed the cause of the incident was a cooking malfunction.

04/30/2023 - Just after 1:30 AM this morning the WCFD along with Good Fellowship Ambulance & EMS Training Institute were dispatched to the area of Paoli Pike and Garfield Ave., West Goshen Township for an auto accident with entrapment. Volunteers of the WCFD arrived and worked to free a person trapped inside their overturned vehicle. Once access was gained and the rescue was completed, the occupant was transported to a local hospital for treatment by EMS. WCFD was assisted by West Goshen Township Police, WCFD fire police and Goshen Fire Company fire police.
