At 7:22PM on Friday, March 11, a dryer fire at the Rose Hill Apartments on West Chester Pike was upgraded to a building fire with people trapped. The original call was dispatched at 7:16, for Stations 54/56 (Goshen) for a reported dryer on fire in the basement of a three story, occupied apartment building. Upon the arrival of Westtown-East Goshen Police Department officers, they advised that there was smoke showing on the alpha side and people trapped on the third floor. Engine 54-1 arrived as Chester County Fire Dispatch was putting the upgraded assignment out, adding Station 52, 55 Ambulance (Good Fellowship), and Medic 91 (Chester County Hospital). Engine 52-2 (Captain Barry) quickly made the response with a crew of 4, followed by Engine 52-1 (Lt. DiMeo) with 4, and Air 52 (FF Williams) with 3. Engine 52-2 arrived as the third arriving Engine Company and was placed to work preforming searches of all floors. The fire attack crews held the fire to the original room in the basement, and all searches proved negative. Crews from Engine 52-1 and Air 52 staged in manpower until being released.
