Around 0600 on Friday, February 7, Station 52 was dispatched to 241 East Gay Street, at Dominos Pizza, for the automatic fire alarm. Engine 52-2 made the response with a crew of 6 led by Captain Barry, and while enroute the County advised that an additional call was received reporting smoke from the roof area. The assignment was then upgraded to a building fire adding Station 51, 53, and 55. Engine 52-2 arrived to find a one story commercial building with heavy smoke showing. The working fire dispatch was then put out, adding an Engine from both Station 54 and Station 56. Engine 52-2's crew stretched a 1 3/4 inch attack line, secured it's own water supply, and began fire suppression. While the interior crew was locating and putting water on the fire, the exterior crew stretched a back up line, threw ground ladders, and provided ventilation. Ladder 53 arrived and the crew split, one team proceeded to do a search, the other assisted with ventilation. Engine 52-1 then arrived and took the back up line inside helping extinguish the fire, along with other crews from 51, 53, 54, and 56. The fire was placed under control about 45 minutes after dispatch and the assignment was available around 8:10AM.
